This site is a tribute to Martin (or Bert), to remember and celebrate the man who was much-loved and will undoubtedly be missed by many.
In the absence of being able to stage a fitting memorial at this time, it is my hope that those who knew and cared for Martin will share a memory or a moment via this site.
For me he was a loving, caring, kind husband, a true friend who amazed and inspired me, always supported me and made me laugh more than anyone else I've ever known. Martin was 40 when I met him, I loved him instantly and I feel so privileged to have had 29 years to share that love with him. He found peace and happiness in our family and was at the very heart of our 'troop' – we will be forever ‘misshapen’ and saddened without him.
I’m sure he was so much more to so many different people, judging by the kind messages we have received already. He was one of a kind, and not the easiest to sum up in a few words but I’m sure everyone who knew him has a story to tell so please share!
Thank you
Denise and family.
p.s Martin’s wish was for donations to the RSPCA to be made in his name by those who feel able and willing to do so. Follow the link to left if you would like to do this.
So sad to hear this. I ran with the club a bit over ten years ago now and have just moved to Little Eaton. Martin was an amazing runner and kept everyone going and in high spirits.
Worked alongside Martin at Revive - always seemed laid back and chilled, and usually by the time most folks arrived he would have opened up the building, done the routine stuff and cut the grass too!
